Turkish Cinema Bids Farewell To 2007 With Records

Published: 12/26/2007

ANKARA - Two Turkish movies "Kabadayi" (Bully) and "Beyaz Melek" (White Angel) have broken box office records ahead of the new year.
920,000 people watched "Kabadayi" directed by Omer Vargi within 10 days while 1,503,214 watched "Beyaz Melek" directed by Mahsun Kirmizigul within 40 days.
Veteran actor Sener Sen takes on the role of a former bully named Ali Osman. When one day Osman encounters his first love, Afet (Selma Kutlu), and learns that she has a son named Murat (Ismail Hacioglu), Osman's life takes a twist. Devran (Kenan Imirzalioglu), a mafia boss, is in love with Murat's girlfriend, Karaca (Asli Tandogan), and is willing to do anything to get her. Osman, on the other hand, is willing to do anything to keep his son and his girlfriend safe and happy.
On the other hand, "Beyaz Melek" tells the story of two brothers who brought their father to Istanbul for medical care. But the father escapes from the hospital and begins to live in a rest home. One day, he offers his friends to travel to his village in Diyarbakir, a journey which would be a honeymoon for a couple who just got married at the rest home. Their adventure begins with this journey.
