Two dead after boat sinks off Turkey with illegal migrants

ANKARA, Jan 2 (AFP) - A boat carrying illegal Somali and Iranian immigrants to Greece sank Sunday off the Turkish coast, killing the captain and a migrant, the Anatolia news agency reported.
Another would-be migrant is missing after the vessel capsized in the Aegean Sea off the coast of Ayvalik in northwest Turkey, it said.
Turkish coast guards rescued 12 Somali and Iranian immigrants from the sea.
The boat was heading for the Greek coast.
Migrants make daily attempts to enter Greece illegally via Turkey and dozens have drowned in recent years in the process.
