ANKARA - Matthew Bryza, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European & Eurasian Affairs, held talks on energy, Cyprus and fight against terrorist organization PKK in Turkish capital of Ankara on Tuesday.
After his talks in Turkish ministries of energy and foreign affairs, Bryza held a press conference.
Bryza noted that the strategic vision document, prepared by Turkey and the USA, lists the priorities of the two countries.
Replying to a question on important issues in the document, Bryza stated that the two countries attach great importance to several matters, particularly Iran and energy.
Reiterating the USA's commitments regarding fight against terrorist organization PKK, Bryza said that this fight can take place not only in military area but also in political area. He stressed that his country is exerting great efforts to limit existence of terrorist organization in European countries.
When he was reminded of statements of Iraqi authorities who said that the USA had the control in regions where terrorist organization was active, thus they could not fight against terrorist organization, Bryza noted that it is difficult to stage a military operation on Kandil mountain, stating that Turkish army continues its fight in northern Iraq for years. He said that Turkish soldiers are also aware that such a operation is difficult, underlining that trilateral mechanism among Turkey, USA and Iraq is very important.
