ANKARA - ``There is no pollution in the Turkish urgent intervention responsibility area stemming from the oil spill in Lebanon,`` the Turkish Maritime Undersecretariat said on Tuesday.

Releasing a statement, the Maritime Undersecretariat said, ``the Jiyeh coastal power plant, about 20 kilometers south of Beirut, was damaged on July 13th due to ongoing war in the region causing heavy fuel oil to spill. The Lebanese Ministry of Environment said that nearly 15 thousand tones of oil spilled into the sea.``

``A commission was formed under the structure of the Maritime Undersecretariat to monitor all developments to this end. There is no pollution in the Turkish urgent intervention responsibility area stemming from the oil spill in Lebanon so far,`` it added.
