BURSA - "Turkey has the strength and will to combat terrorism and also has the potential to be successful with the support of friendly cooperations," True Path Party (DYP) leader Mehmet Agar said on Thursday.

Asked about PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan`s meeting with U.S. President George Bush, Agar said Turkish-U.S. relations progressed in the interests of both parties for more than 50 years.

"Turkish-U.S. relations do not change according to persons. The relations will maintain within common interests and alliance," he said.

Asked to comment on remarks of EU Commissioner for Enlargement Olli Rehn that Article 301 should be amended or totally eliminated, Agar said Turkey has to correspond its own needs with the requirements of universal law.
