BAGHDAD - US ambassador to Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad was briefly left in the dark Tuesday when a power cut interrupted his live televised press conference.
About 30 minutes into the press conference the hall was plunged into darkness by one of Baghdad's regular power cuts, despite the fact the venue was in the capital's heavily-fortified Green Zone, also home to the US embassy.
With his microphone cut, the envoy raised his voice and kept talking in obscurity for three or four minutes until order was restored.
Power cuts are a regular event in Iraq, with only a few hours of mains electricity a day.
