ISTANBUL - International environmental organization Greenpeace builds a ship, which is identical to the Noah`s Ark, on Turkey`s highest mountain Agri to draw people`s attention to the global warming and warn world leaders to take necessary measures.
Andrea Bohling, one of leading names of the Greenpeace, told a news conference on Wednesday in Istanbul that the climate change was the biggest calamity faced by the human race after the Deluge.
"We build a ship, which is identical to the Noah`s Ark to draw attention to the global warming. If people take urgent action against global warming, they can save their planet. The Noah`s Ark also symbolizes the hope that we can still prevent such a calamity. We are all on board the same ship. Therefore, all countries should work together save the future of our planet," he said.
A team of Turkish and German carpenters are currently building the 10-metre long ship.
An inaugural ceremony will take place on May 31st. During the ceremony, Greenpeace activists will call on world leaders to take urgent action to protect climate.
