Turkish Court Opens Trial Of Five Regarding Publishing House Murders In Malatya

MALATYA - A court in eastern city of Malatya held Friday the first hearing of a publishing house murders.

On April 18th, 2007, Salih Gurler, Cuma Ozdemir, Hamit Ceker, and Abuzer Yildirim attacked "Zirve Publishing House" in Malatya and killed German citizen Tilman Ekkehart Geske, Necati Aydin and Ugur Yuksel. Police arrested the four assailants red-handed and sent them to prison.

On the other hand, Emre Gunaydin was injured as he fell down from the third-storey of the building as he tried to escape. He was also imprisoned after receiving treatment at the Inonu University Turgut Ozal Medical Center in Malatya.

Kursat Kocadag and Mehmet Gokce are tried without detention.

The prosecutor demanded life imprisonment for five suspects on charges of setting up an armed terrorist organization and killing people.

The suspects and their lawyers said they are not ready to defend themselves. Then, the judge adjourned the court till January 14th, 2008
