NATO allies must do more in Afghanistan, Scheffer
BRUSSELS - Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, Secretary General of NATO, said Monday that NATO allies must do more in Afghanistan.
We have high expectations on Afghanistan at the upcoming NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government in Bucharest at the beginning of April, Scheffer noted.
The issue of Kosovo will be handled at the Bucharest summit, Scheffer told.
In reference to the expansion of NATO, Scheffer indicated that Albania, Croatia and Macedonia are knocking on the door of NATO. "I expect these three countries to be invited for NATO membership," Scheffer stressed.
In regard to NATO and the fight against terrorism, Scheffer said that NATO should play an important role in the fight against terrorism.
