Favorable Developments Takes Place In Istanbul, Unesco's World Heritage Center Head Says
ISTANBUL - Several favorable developments took place in regard to restorations that have taken place in Istanbul, the head of World Heritage Center of UNESCO, said on Monday.
World Heritage Center President Francesco Bandarin held a press conference in Istanbul after the officials from the center made inspections in historical sites in the city.
They would submit a report including results of inspections in the city to the committee`s meeting that would take place in Quebec, Canada, (between July 2nd and 10th) and whether Istanbul would be kept in the list of World Heritage Sites would be decided in this meeting, he said.
UNESCO delegation saw favorable developments in the city and a brand new period began in Istanbul, Bandarin told reporters.
Bandarin said he had a meeting with Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas on Monday and discussed several projects.
There were some shortcomings, but they would wait for these deficiencies to be removed, Bandarin added.
