European Commission Urges Headscarf Solution That Respects Fundamental Rights

BRUSSELS - European Commission said Friday that the headscarf issue in Turkey should be "solved by the Turkish people through dialogue, respecting fundamental rights."
Responding to a question on a high court ruling in Turkey to annul a constitutional amendment which allowed headscarf in universities, Krisztina Nagy, spokesperson to EU commissioner for enlargement, said there were no related EU acquis on the issue and each member country had different implementations.
