Turkey Considers Alliance Of Civilization A Part Of Its Support To UN, Babacan
UNITED NATIONS - Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan said on Wednesday that Turkey considered the initiative of Alliance of Civilization a part of its assistance to the UN.
Delivering a speech at the meeting of Group of Friends of Alliance of Civilizations at the UN, Babacan said he was glad that Canada and Kuwait also participated in the Group.
The Alliance could also serve as a platform for several issues and boost understanding and empathy, he stated.
Babacan said the second forum of the Alliance of Civilizations would take place in Istanbul on April 2nd and 3rd, 2009.
Babacan said they were looking forward to more concrete projects.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon said the Group of Friends played an important role in boosting confidence among communities by supporting the Alliance of Civilization.
