Turkish State Minister Meets Spanish Contractors

ANKARA - Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen has met with David Taguas, president of the National Association of Spanish Construction Companies (SEOPAN), and the accompanying delegation in Ankara.

Tuzmen said at the meeting that trade volume between Turkey and Spain reached 6.5 billion euro in 2007 from 2.6 billion euro in 2000.

"SEOPAN brings together 35 firms under its roof. Its contribution to gross domestic product (GDP) was 7.1 percent in 2007. Those firms employ some 420 thousand workers. Cooperation between Turkish and Spanish construction sectors is of vital importance in today's environment of global crisis. We can cooperate in Turkey, in Spain and even in the third countries," Tuzmen said.

Established in 1956, SEOPAN represents 95 percent of Spanish construction exports.
