Turkish Minister Underlines Importance Of Lebanon's Stability
ANKARA - Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that Lebanon's stability was of vital importance for Turkey.
"Maintaining stability in Lebanon and forming a government at the end of a democratic compromise process after a democratic elections are of vital importance for us," Davutoglu told a joint press conference with Bosnia-Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Sven Alkalaj in Ankara.
Davutoglu will travel to Lebanon on Thursday on a two-day visit and discuss bilateral relations, issues concerning Lebanon and regional developments in his meetings with Lebanese executives.
Also talking about Palestine in the press conference, Davutoglu said that Turkey was one of the countries that had close and direct contact with every group in Palestine.
"We attach great importance to concluding all regional compromise initiatives with success, and may be the most important compromise initiative that will determine the fate of the region is the compromise initiative among the Palestinian groups," Davutoglu said.
Davutoglu said presidential and general elections would be held in Palestine in January, and underlined importance of ensuring compromise and atmosphere of confidence among Palestinian groups.
The minister also said that Turkey would work to bring the parties closer to each other.
