Shia leader met Turkish FM and President
Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), Shia leader Sayyed Ammar al-Hakim met Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Istanbul on Wednesday.
After the meeting that lasted 2 hours, Ahmet Davutoglu said that al-Hakim Family has had great contributions to Iraq’s reaching stability.
He said that they took up steps to be taken in bilateral relations and the latest situation in Iraq ahead of elections.
Stating their wish for all the religious sects and groups to live in unity and solidarity in Iraq, Foreign Minister Davutoglu noted that Turkey stands in an equal distance to all groups.
Sayyed Ammar al-Hakim said that Turkey’s democratic experience is an important example for them, and added that they carefully follow the democratic drive in Turkey.
Expressing their appreciation in Turkey’s role in the Arab and Islam countries, al-Hakim also noted that they attach great importance to Turkey’s improvement of relations with the western states.
He stated that they took up controlling the terrorist groups during the meeting, saying that these groups give harm to the people of both countries.
Saying that they pay attention to the Turkmen people’s rights, al-Hakim advised that they exert every effort for the elections to be held in time in Iraq.
ISCI Head al-Hakim was later received by President Abdullah Gul. They had a close-to-press meeting that lasted an hour.
