Safak presented with order of Chivalry in Art and Literature from France
Turkish novelist Elif Safak was deemed worthy of the Order of Chivalry in Art and Literature from France.
Safak was presented the award by the French Ambassador in Ankara Laurent Bili in a ceremony held at the Palace of France in Istanbul yesterday.
Speaking at the ceremony, Bili said, “We are presenting you the Order of Chivalry in Art and Literature on behalf of the Minister of Culture of the French Republic for your intellectual work serving freedom of thought, and contributions to inter-cultural dialogue and human rights.”
For her part, Safak said that the French Order of Chivalry in Art and Literature was highly valuable and dedicated the award to her readers. The award ceremony was attended by prominent figures from the art and literature circles.
