Rasmussen: Patriot systems in Turkey are only for defense purposes
Secretary General of NATO Anders Fogh Rasmussen yesterday criticized the remarks made by Iran’s Chief of General Staff Hasan Firuzabadi, who has said that Patriots might lead to a world war.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Brussels, Rasmussen said that people with stupid ideas to use their missiles in an attack should be worried by the Patriots.
“Since the very beginning, we have made it very clear that the deployment of Patriot systems in Turkey was only for defensive purposes. I do hope that the Patriots s would be a deterrent factor for countries who may think about firing missiles on Turkey,” Rasmussen noted.
