Turkish president hosts dinner in honor of visiting Tajik counterpart
Turkish President Abdullah Gul hosted a dinner in the honor of visiting Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
Speaking at the dinner, Gul said the most characteristic feature of Turkish-Tajik relations was confidence and respect not only between the two governments but also between the peoples of the two countries.
"Our joint goal is to secure the prosperity of our countries and peoples. And the best way to achieve that goal today is to boost our cooperation and solidarity," Gul told the dinner.
Gul said Turkey was one of the first countries to recognize Tajikistan’s independence and to open an embassy in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe, adding that Rahmon’s visit in Ankara coincided with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Tajik president, on his part said, that cooperation between Turkey and Tajikistan would benefit the two countries and it would also contribute to stability and prosperity in the region.
