Samaras visits Fener Greek Orthodox Patriarchate, thanks Bagis
Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras visited the Fener Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in Istanbul on the sidelines of the second Turkey-Greece High-Level Cooperation Council meeting on Monday.
Samaras was accompanied by Greek Foreign Minister Dimitrios Avramopoulos, Greek Ambassador to Turkey Kyriakos Loukakis and Turkish EU Affairs Minister and chief negotiator Egemen Bagis.
Samaras also met with Patriarch Bartholomew I, visited the church at the patriarchate, lit a candle and prayed. As part of his visit, Samaras thanked Bagis, saying, “As you know our patriarchate and personally I greatly support your EU membership. We also mention this in the forums which are held. We hope this could happen in the term of your ministry.”
