Turkey’s unemployment rate falls
According to figures revealed by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of unemployed persons in Turkey decreased by 97,000 in 2012, amounting to 2,518,000 people in total, and the unemployment rate fell to 9.2 percent with a decrease by 0.6 percent.
The number of employed persons increased to 711,000 people compared to the previous year, and climbed to 24,821,000 people in total. Agricultural employment decreased by 46,000 people and non-agricultural employment increased by 757,000 people in this period.
While Turkey’s jobless rate fell to 9.2 percent, the jobless rate was calculated as 10.5 percent in the eurozone’s second biggest economy, France, 11.3 percent in Italy and 26.1 percent in Spain.
