Gul welcomed with royal ceremony in Sweden

President Abdullah Gul and his wife Hayrunnisa Gul were welcomed by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Queen Silvia on Monday in Stockholm, Sweden.

Two royal carriages, accompanied by 60 strong Royal Cavalry Guards, brought Gul and his spouse to the courtyard of the Royal Palace, where a formal military ceremony was held with a crowd of Turks and Swedes watching the ceremony.

During the ceremony, Gul presented the king with the State Order of the Republic Medal of Turkey and the king gave Gul the Order of the Seraphim which is Sweden's highest order of chivalry.

The Royalty afterwards hosted a luncheon in honor of Gul and the First Lady.

Turkey and Sweden to cooperate in energy and environment technologies

President Abdullah Gul and King Carl XVI Gustaf participated in the closing session of the Turkey-Sweden Business Forum, during which Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan and Swedish Minister for Trade Eva Bjorling signed the Memorandum of Understanding on energy and environment technologies.

Gul also met with the representatives of the 10 leading Swedish firms at a round table meeting prior to the forum.
