OIC congratulates Pope Francis
Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu congratulated Pope Francis for having been elected as the new spiritual leader of the Catholic world.
In a message sent to Pope Francis, Ihsanoglu renewed his call for an historic consensus between Islam and Christianity.
According to a written statement released by the OIC, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu underlined in his message that the election of the new pope should be an opportunity to strengthen ties between the two religions.
