Caglayan meets with WTO Director General
Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan yesterday met with Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Pascal Lamy in Istanbul.
The meeting was also attended by Chairman of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM) Mehmet Buyukeksi. Stating that he has mentioned Lamy his opinions on the EU’s inconsiderate approach towards Turkey and the Turkish businessmen, Caglayan said, “Turkey has enormously open applications. This is a country a great many people could visit without any visa requirement. We expect to see the same understanding from the countries with which we cooperate. I would like to thank Pascal for his fair and impartial efforts. Pascal’s term of office will end in August. We hope to see the same impartiality from the person who will be appointed.”
For his part, Buyukeksi said that they want to remove all sorts of obstacles on trade and aim to increase Turkey’s contributions to the world trade.
