Gul, Erdogan and Cicek congratulate Christians’ Easter
President Abdullah Gul, Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan issued messages in commemoration of Easter Sunday, one of the major holidays in Christianity.
“We, members of a deep-rooted tradition of respecting religious faiths and differences, believe that our culture of living together in peace and safety will prevail, just as it has done so in the past,” Erdogan said in a message, also giving his regards to all Christians celebrating Easter, particularly those living in Turkey, and expressing his best wishes.
Cicek said in his message that it was his biggest wish that all parts of our society understand the importance of meeting under the roof of tolerance and respect, especially at a time when we are focused on reviving peace within the country more than ever.
