CAIRO - An Egyptian court has set March 3 and 4 as the date for the trial of 1,207 supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi on violence charges, a judicial source said.

The defendants face charges of assault, arson and joining a banned group – the term used to describe the Muslim Brotherhood, the group from which Morsi hails.

Egyptian authorities have launched a massive crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood following Morsi`s overthrow last summer, arresting thousands of the movement`s leaders and supporters on incitement-to-violence charges.
