Civil servants salary crisis in Kurdish regional government in northern Iraq

SULAYMANIYAH, Iraq - Politicial parties in the Kurdish regional government in northern Iraq have protested about the nonpayment of the salaries of civil servants and government employees.
Two hundred activists, including from the Kurdistan Workers' Party and Kurdistan Communist Party, marched towards the Kurdish regional government's headquarters in Sulamaniyah, northern Iraq.
The protesters said that the head of the region should meet all political parties immediately, who themselves should listen to the demands of people. They also called for more efforts to be made in dealing with economic problems of the banks as well.
Protesters chanting in front of the Parliament's office disbanded quietly after a short while.
In the region, while the appointments of those who have a bachelor's degree, teachers and civil servant candidates are on hold, salaries of employees have not been paid for 2 months.
