'How I met your mother' lives on through spinoff

"How I Met Your Dad" will star Greta Gerwig, who gained Golden Globe nomination fame with her performance in the comedy film 'Frances Ha'.

ANKARA - As the award-winning American sit-com "How I Met Your Mother" is preparing to bid farewell, its producers made the series' fans elated when they announced that it will resurface in a spinoff version called "How I Met Your Dad."

According to producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the female-centric variation of the renowned series will introduce new characters on the heels of an entirely different plot.

The pilot episode will be shot in Los Angeles and the set for subsequent episodes will move to New York, the show's producers said.

"How I Met Your Dad" will star Greta Gerwig, who gained Golden Globe nomination fame with her performance in the comedy film 'Frances Ha.'

Gerwig will play Sally, an energetic, sleazy and erratic girl in her twenties. The veteran comedy "How I Met Your Mother" first aired on American broadcaster CBS in September 2012 and quickly became one of the most famous TV series in CBS' history. The series also gained critical acclaim and gained a cult following over the years.
