"Black Eagles" defeat Kasimpasa 3-0 in a replay of controversial 15th week match
ANKARA - Besiktas defeated Kasimpasa 3-0 on Tuesday in a rematch of a Turkish Spor Toto Super League’s controversial 15th week match.
The victory brought the Black Eagles' points total to 39, good for third in the league, five points behind leaders Fenerbahce.
Besiktas finished the job early thanks to goals scored by Portuguese forward Hugo Almeida, 22-year-old Colombian center-back Pedro Franco and Austrian international Veli Kavlak.
In the previous match, Kasimpasa's Dutch center-back Ryan Donk intercepted the ball off the pitch in the 30th minute, illegally nullifying a Besiktas attack.
The match ended 2-1 in favor of Kasimpasa.
Besiktas' board later appealed to the Turkish Football Federation for a rematch. The Turkish Football Federation decided ordered the match replayed as a result of the violation.
