Top UN official arrives in Cairo

CAIRO - UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey D. Feltman arrived in Cairo on Saturday for a two-day visit for talks with senior Egyptian officials.
Feltman flew in from Dubai, Cairo Airport sources told Anadolu Agency.
The UN diplomat will discuss with Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmi democratic transition, respect of human rights and the need for holding fair and trials, a UN diplomatic source in Cairo told AA earlier, on condition of anonymity for not being authorized to talk to the media.
Feltman is also expected to meet Arab League Secretary-General Nabil al-Arabi to discuss a wide range of regional issues, including the crisis in Syria.
Special UN coordinator for Lebanon Sir Derek Plumbly and Major General Iqbal Singh Singha, the Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) had arrived in Cairo on Friday.
The two UN officials are expected to meet Feltman as well as attending a UN regional meeting in the Egyptian capital, the UN diplomatic source said.
