Russian dramatist's plays to be performed in various Ankara theatres, February 18-23.

ANKARA - Ankara theater-goers will have the opportunity to get closely acquainted with famous Russian writer Anton Chekhov during 'Chekhov Week' between February 18-23, General Art Director of Turkish State Theatres Mustafa Kurt said.
"Performing classic plays enriches the repertory of regional state theaters," Kurt told an AA correspondent.
State theatres announced that the The Seagull, Uncle Vanya, The Cherry Orchard, Three Sisters, Dear Doctor, The Bear and a biographical play about Chekhov’s life – The Machine – will be performed.
The plays will be produced by the Istanbul, Bursa, Adana, Izmir, Ankara and Van state theaters.
Kurt also said Turkey's first 'Shakespeare Week' in January attracted over 16,000 people to theatres for stagings of Hamlet, Othello, Twelfth Night and The Merchant of Venice.
Kurt said all of the tickets for 'Chekhov Week' have already sold out.
