TRIPOLI - The Libyan army on Friday confirmed that a military helicopter had crashed in neighboring Tunisia.
The Antonov 26 transport aircraft had crashed in Tunisia at dawn, killing 11 people on board, army spokesman Ali al-Sheikhi told Anadolu Agency.
He said that two injured people, three escorts and six crew members were aboard the helicopter when it crashed.
Earlier, Tunisian Defense Minister spokesman Taoufik Rahmouni said that the aircraft had crashed in Grombalia in eastern Tunisia.
According to the spokesman, a fire broke out aboard the aircraft before losing contacts with the helicopter crew.
