YOGYAKARTA - At least 115 people were killed when a strong earthquake rocked the densely-populated southern coast of Indonesia`s Central Java on Saturday, hospital staff said.

"Our preliminary data showed 55 people have died. But we expect there will be more," Dwi Winarno, an official at the state-run Sardjito hospital in Yogyakarta, told AFP.

At least 60 dead victims from the earthquake were at the nearby Bethesda hospital, a hospital official, Maruta, told AFP.
