WASHINGTON - US President George W. Bush and Jordan's King Abdullah II discussed Lebanon, Iraq, Iran and the Israeli-Palestinian issue by telephone on Friday, the White House said.

"The president spoke to King Abdullah of Jordan today about events in the Middle East," said national security spokeswoman Kate Starr.

"They discussed Lebanon, Israeli-Palestinian affairs, the situation in Iraq and Iran's activities. The president asked the king to remain in close touch with him in the coming weeks," said Starr.
