Estonian Parliamentary Delegation Visits Turkish Parliament

ANKARA - Turkish Acting Parliament Speaker Nevzat Pakdil received an Estonian Parliamentary delegation led by Sven Mikser, Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of Estonian Parliament, at Turkish Parliament in Ankara.

Pakdil said that a Turkey-Estonia Interparliamentary Friendship Group was established within Turkish Parliament. He added that the group would help further development of relations between the two countries.

Pakdil said that stances of Turkey and Estonia about international problems and against terrorist organization were similar.

Pakdil said that Turkey hosted 25,000 Estonian tourists in 2007.

Mikser expressed pleasure over Turkey`s support to Estonia`s NATO membership. Mikser added that Estonia was ready to extend every type of support to Turkey`s EU membership.

Mikser said that Estonia believed Turkey`s accession to EU would contribute to the Union. He added that Turkey was very important in its region, and Estonia attached importance to its role in solving problems in the region.
