Turkish president underlined that Georgia stability and security is important for entire region

Turkish President Abdullah Gul has expressed his country`s firm support to Georgia in its relations with NATO and efforts to integrate with European-Atlantic organizations.

During a meeting Tuesday with his Georgian counterpart Mikheil Saakashvili in the Turkish capital of Ankara, Gul said Turkey considered Georgia as a major partner in the region, adding that intense political dialogue and regular high level contacts played a key role in improving and diversifying cooperation.

Gul said Georgia stability and security was important for the entire region, adding that the Marmaray and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars projects will make uninterrupted railway transport possible on the Iron Silk Road from Beijing to London.

Saakashvili, on his part, said that Georgia was grateful for Turkey`s support, adding that the two countries had the necessary potential to improve their trade relations further.
