Ankara - US and British embassies in the Turkish capital Ankara announced Thursday that Turkish authorities conveyed no information regarding US and British nationals with diplomatic passports have been arrested in anti-government protests in Istanbul.

"We have seen reports of US nationals with diplomatic passports arrested in Istanbul. Turkish authorities tell us no such American citizens detained," said the US Embassy in Ankara on its Twitter account.

Likewise, British Embassy in Ankara said, "Odd press reports regarding British nationals with diplomatic passports arrested in Turkey. Authorities tell us no such British detained," via Twitter.

Meanwhile, Turkish diplomatic sources said no information in regards to the arrest of foreign nationals with diplomatic passports has reached the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

Several newspapers have published news claiming foreign nationals with diplomatic passports were detained during Taksim Gezi Park protests on Thursday.
