Tourists from Middle East and north Africa steadily increase every year.

ANKARA - Around half a million more tourists from the middle east and north Africa visited Turkey in 2013, a nine percent increase in 2012 figures, according to Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The increased interest from these countries is attributed to the Turkish soap operas, shopping potential and better presentation of tourism by tour operators.

"They want to see the beautiful places they saw in soap operas. Ministry of Culture and Tourism should give weight to promotions in soap operas” the head of Tour Operators Cem Polatoglu said.

"The number of people purchasing residences within Turkey is increasing. Turkish estate agents are opening offices in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Dubai,” says Polatoglu.
