MOSCOW - Ukraine`s former president Victor Yanukovych will hold a press conference on February 28 in the southern Russian city of Rostov.

An official close to Yanukovych said that the conference will take place at 17:00 Moscow time, according to Russia`s Ria-Novosti news agency.

Yanukovych has reportedly requested security from Russian officials, which Russia has accepted.

He sent a message to Ukraine today saying that he believes that he is still the legitimate president of Ukraine.

Yanukovych, who fled his presidential residence last Friday, is wanted in Ukraine for murdering dozens of protesters, who were killed during three months of protests.
