5 dead bodies found in Libya's Benghazi

BENGHAZI, Libya – Libyan security forces on Sunday found the bodies of five people, including four who were executed by gunfire, in two different districts of the eastern city of Benghazi, according to a security source.

"There were signs of torture on the first four bodies," Ibrahim al-Sharaa, a spokesman for the Benghazi Joint Security Room, told Anadolu Agency, adding that the bodies were taken to Benghazi Hospital.

He said the four were found in an area 50kms southeastern of Benghazi, while the fifth body was found 40kms west of Benghazi.

"There were signs of torture on the first four bodies," said al-Sharaa, adding that the bodies were taken to Benghazi Hospital.

He said the identities of the slain people have not been established, expecting them to be Libyan citizens.

Seven Egyptian Christians were killed executive-style in the same restive city less than a week ago.

Benghazi residents are taking to the streets to protest rampant security deterioration in their city.

Libya has been struggling to restore order more than two years after the ouster of late strongman Muammar Gaddafi.
