Manchester City win 'Capital One Cup'

LONDON - Manchester City beat Sunderland 3-1 in the final match of Capital One Cup played at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. City did not give in despite completing the first half 1-0 behind against Sunderland.

The opening goal of the match was scored by Sunderland`s Italian forward Fabio Borini in the tenth minute of the match. Manchester City responded with their Ivorian midfielder Yaya Toure scoring the equaliser goal in the 55th minute. Just a minute later, City made a comeback after their French midfielder Samir Nasri had found the net. Manchester City clinched the victory thanks to the third goal scored by their Spanish winger Jesus Navas in the 90th minute.

With the triumph against Sunderland in London, Manchester City won the Capital One trophy for the third time in club`s history. Before 2014, Manchester City lastly won this trophy in 1976 by toppling Newcastle United 2-1 at Wembley Stadium.
