PRESIDENT EROGLU: “WE WILL DO OUR UTMOST EFFORT TO REACH DESIRED SOLUTION AT NEGOTIATONS”
In a speech he made during one of his receptions President Derviş Eroğlu indicated that they will do their utmost effort to reach the desired solution at the negotiations and added: “If the other side has the same intention and they behave with the consciousness that there are two separate peoples in the island, there is no reason that we will not agree. Our wish is that our neighbors will also be at the table with the same intention and they will be oriented towards an agreement not towards playing for time. ”
Eroglu indicated that the Cyprus problem has dragged on for a long time and created social unrest due to uncertainty about the future. Eroglu stressed that now it is time to get rid of this problem. Eroglu finally added that they will come together to make consultations as the negotiations continue.
As it is known Cyprus negotiation process was interrupted by the Greek Cypriot Administration in 2013 due to the presidential elections and economic crisis in South Cyprus.
PRESIDENT EROGLU RECEIVED GERMAN AMBASSADOR
President Derviş Eroğlu received the German Ambassador to South Cyprus Dr. Gabriela Guellil yesterday morning. The latest developments on the Cyprus Issue and the Cyprus negotiations process topped the agenda of the meeting. The President’s Undersecretary Hasan GüngÃ¶r and the President’s Spokesman Osman Ertuğ were also present at the meeting held at the Presidential Palace.
No statement was issued before or after the meeting.
SIBER EVALUATES CONTACTS IN IRAN
Speaker of the TRNC Parliament Sibel Siber gave information on the meeting of OIC Inter-Parliamentary Union she attended in Iran.
Siber stated that lobby activities should be continued and they should discuss what could be done in order to increase the lobby activities.
Stating that she discussed how the relations between the institutions can be developed and the subjects of education, trade and tourism in the contacts she made, Siber added that news concerning their contacts were published in the Iranian press.
FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTRY AND ICDT WILL ORGANIZE JOINT WORKSHOP
TRNC Foreign Affairs Ministry and Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT) will organize a joint workshop themed “Export Promotion and Investment Strategies in the context of Globalization”.
Director General of ICDT El Hassane Hzaine, high level officials of the Ministries responsible for Economy and Trade in member and observer countries of OIC, the experts serving within the structure of ICDT and the academicians from TRNC universities will attend the workshop which will take place at the Near East University (NEU) on 3rdMarch.
Following reading of verses from the holy Quran, TRNC Foreign Affairs Minister Ã–zdil Nami, Rector of NEU, Representative of IDB Group and Director General of ICDT El Hassane Hzaine will give speeches and a documentary film show will be performed at the opening of the workshop.
The workshop will end after the evaluation to be made at 17:00 and the presentation of certificates of attendance on 5 March Wednesday.
The negotiators of the two leaders Kudret Ã–zersay and Andreas Mavroyannis met in the UN Controlled Buffer zone yesterday to resume negotiations aimed at reaching a comprehensive settlement to the Cyprus Problem. The two are set to discuss procedural issues.
Making a statement to the BRT after the meeting Ã–zersay said that the meeting was held in a positive atmosphere and added that the sides had clarified the issues on which convergences had been reached before their simultaneous visits to Ankara and Athens.
The two negotiators are set to visit Greece and Turkey later this week on Thursday the 27th of February. While Ã–zersay will be visiting Athens, Mavroyannis will be visiting Ankara on the same day.
Next meeting of negotiators is decided to be on 4 March 2014.
ANASTASIADES IS ALSO OPPOSED TO AKEL
Greek Cypriot leader Anastasiades who made a threat that if Turkey enters into the so-called exclusive economic zone of South Cyprus, the Greek Cypriot side would withdraw from negotiations has also became opposed to AKEL by mentioning Cyprus’ entering into NATO’s Partnership Program for Peace with the aim of lifting Turkey’s right of guarantee.
SUPPORT FROM WORLD PROGRESSIVE ALLIANCE TO CYPRUS PEACE PROCESS
It was stated that World Progressive Alliance of which the Republican Turkish Party-United Forces (CTP-BG) is the founding member has taken a decision to support the peace process in Cyprus.
According to the written statement of the Republican Turkish Party-United Forces, CTP-BG Deputy and Foreign Relations Secretary Armağan Candan represented the Republican Turkish Party-United Forces in Tunisia during 21-22nd February at the Summit of Progressive Alliance.
CTP-BG WOMAN ORGANISATION SUPPORTS NEGOTIATION PROCESS
Republican Turkish Party-United Forces (CTP-BG) Women Organization stated their support for the negotiation process and stressed that deadlock in Cyprus made the Turkish Cypriots to pay heavy prices.
In her statement, the head of the Republican Turkish Party-United Forces Woman Organization Siber Sorakın said that it is very well known that a life without wars but full of freedom shall come with a solution reached in Cyprus.
Sorakın also pointed out that they would work hard and do whatever is necessary to end the negotiation process with success.
