OTTAWA – Nine Russian soldiers who were in Canada for preplanned military exercises will be deported from the country, officials said on Thursday.
Canadian officials informed the Russian soldiers that they have 24 hours to leave the country.
Six of the nine Russian soldiers were attending a language course in the province of Quebec, while two of them were participating in a training program at the Georgetown Military Base and another soldier was teaching Russian language to Canadian soldiers in Quebec’s military base.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper ordered yesterday to suspend military relations between Russia and Canada.
