ANKARA - Google is celebrating International Women`s Day, marked on March 8, with an interactive doodle which will be displayed on its home page from Friday to Saturday.
The doodle features several Venus symbols, used to signify the female gender, in different colors matching those of the Google logo.
The logo`s second `O` is a larger Venus symbol with a Play button.
When users click the play button, a YouTube video starts playing of famous and non-famous women from across the world wishing "Happy International`s Women`s day" in their native languages.
The renowned figures include 16-year old Pakistani education activist Malala Yousafzai, Australian photographer Anne Geddes and India`s five-time World Boxing champion Mary Kom.
International Women`s Day is celebrated on March 8 every year to mark women`s achievements and to appreciate their contribution to the world. The United Nations General Assembly in 1975 invited member states to recognize March 8 as the "Day for women`s rights and world peace."
