SIMFEROPOL - Crimean Parliamentary Speaker, Volodymyr Konstantinov has addressed the Crimean people on the eve of the referendum on joining Russia, saying that Crimea becoming part of Ukraine 60 years ago was “a historic mistake.”

“The time has come to fix that mistake on March 16 by saying ‘yes’ to integration with Russia,” said Konstantinov speaking at Supreme Council of Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

“60 years ago they gave Crimea to Ukraine without even asking the Crimean people. For all these years Crimea has acted within the framework of law and stayed loyal to Ukraine,” he added, “but now, there remains no Ukraine under which all of us can live. There are no people we can negotiate with for a common future.”
