40 Ukrainians to be flown to Germany for medical care

BERLIN - Germany will provide medical treatment to 40 Ukrainian citizens who were severely injured during last month’s violent clashes in Kiev, the German Foreign Ministry has announced.

“A group of 40 injured Ukrainians will be transported from Kiev to Berlin next week by a plane,” the ministry said in a statement.

The Ukrainian parliament, Verkhovna Rada had asked last month for Germany's help in treating the Ukrainians who were injured in the main protest camp, Independence Square (Maidan).

Most of the patients, consisting of protestors and policemen, had severe injuries and require extensive treatment in specialist medical facilities.

Germany has sent a specially designed Airbus A310 military transportation plane with intensive care units to Kiev in order to transport the patients safely to Berlin.
