ANKARA - Turkish Competition Authority has opened an investigation against Coca Cola in Turkey on allegations that it made exclusivity agreement with its sales points in the country, the watchdog said in a statement on Friday.

The statement published on its website said, ''it has been decided to open an investigation against Coca Cola Satis Dagitim ve A.S. (leading supplier of soft carbonated beverages in Turkey) after reviewing its preliminary inquiry in its meeting on Feb.26 on a complaint filed that claimed the company has an exclusivity agreement with some sales points in particular biggest cities in the country such as Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa and Antalya.''

The statement said the watchdog would now look more deeply into those allegations that the company has violated market competition rules.

The competition watchdog also added that the probe does not necessarily mean the company will be penalized.
