ISTANBUL - Michael Winslow, best known for his roles in the popular Police Academy films, is to perform in Istanbul at the Besiktas Cultural Center on March 22.

The comedian, who has also created voice-overs for Disney and Universal Studios and worked on films such as Back to the Future and Terminator, said to his Turkish fans, “this will be my first time in your country and I hope we will have a good time together.”

Explaining that he always had an interest in ‘sounds’, Winslow, who is known as the ‘Man of 10,000 Sound Effects’ advised those interested in beat-box in Turkey to work hard.

“Study is all I can say and remember it will be best to be able to play an instrument too because you need to have an understanding of key notes, because you have to have a proper pitch,” he added.

Seen as one of the bests on sound effects, Winslow imitates thousands of voices from spine tingling scratches on a chalkboard, to jets roaring, dogs barking, squishing soggy sneakers, radio noises, screaming guitars, to name a few all by using nothing more than his voice.
