English Premier League side Chelsea beat Turkey's Galatasary to advance into quarter-finals

ANKARA - The last four matches of the UEFA Champions League's second round were played on Tuesday and Wednesday with Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund all advancing to the quarter-finals. 

Chelsea knocked Galatasaray out of the tournament on Tuesday night with a 2-0 victory at home. The previous leg was a 1-1 draw in Istanbul. 

Manchester United overturned a two-goal deficit from their surprising first leg defeat against Greek team Olympiakos, winning 3-0 with all three goals coming from Dutch striker Robin Van Persie.

Spain's league-leaders Real Madrid cruised past Germany's Schalke 3-1 at their Santiago Bernabeu stadium with a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo. Schalke suffered a 6-1 defeat during their first-leg home game.

Borussia Dortmund advanced to the quarter-finals despite losing 2-1 against Zenit 2-1 at their home ground Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday. They were already carrying a two-goal lead from their 4-2 German triumph in Saint Petersburg. 

The draws for quarter-finals fixtures will be held in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday at 12:00 CET and will involve: Barcelona (Spain); Bayern Munich (Germany); Paris Saint-Germain (France); Atletico Madrid (Spain); Manchester United (England); Chelsea (England); Borussia Dortmund (Germany); Real Madrid (Spain).
