ALGIERS – U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will pay a visit to Algeria on April 2, the Algerian Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
Kerry's talks in Algeria will focus on bilateral relations between Algeria and the United States as well as a host of regional and international issues, the ministry added in a statement.
Kerry's two-day visit comes upon an invitation from Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra.
The Algerian Foreign Ministry said that Lamamra and Secretary Kerry will co-chair the U.S.-Algeria Strategic Dialogue during the visit.
Launched in October 2012, the Dialogue demonstrates the desire of the leaders of the U.S. and Algeria to bolster their coordination on the issues discussed during the first session in Washington in October 2012, the ministry said.
Kerry had been planned to visit Algeria last November, but the visit was postponed over Iran's talks with world powers, including the U.S., on its nuclear program.
