RIYADH – U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Riyadh on Friday for talks with Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdelaziz.
Obama was welcomed at the King Khalid International Airport by Riyadh Governor Khalid bin Bandar Al Saud and U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Joseph Westphal, according to Saudi's official SPA news agency.
The U.S. leader will meet with the Saudi monarch at the latter's desert estate in Rawdat Khuraim, some 100km northeast of Riyadh.
Talks are expected to tackle bilateral relations and various other political and economic issues, the news agency said.
Relations between the two longstanding allies have become strained in recent months due to Washington's recent overtures to Iran and perceived inaction on the Syria crisis.
